What we do
The where of the Kumbh
Kumbh Mela Locations is a geography guide to the four Kumbh cities. Our sister site answers when; this one answers where — which river, which ghat, which bank, how far, and how to get there.
The Kumbh is one festival held in four very different places. Pilgrims bathe down canal steps in Haridwar, in a riverbed kund in Nashik, from boats in Prayagraj and on stone ghats in Ujjain. The akhadas camp in different ways in each city, the Mela ground is built differently, and the season changes everything from what to pack to how the river behaves. Most guides treat the Kumbh as a date. We treat it as a place.
We cover each city at three levels: a city guide to the lie of the land; ghat guides to the individual bathing places; and Mela-ground guides to how the temporary city is laid out — plus reference pages on the rivers, the akhadas, the seasons and etiquette.

Original writing
Every page is written for that page. We don't copy text between our own pages or from our sister sites.
